Lynell Nolan is the author of “Being Black in Scarlet” published in 2003. The book describes his struggles as a black police officer in a perceived white man’s organization, and his advocacy for visible minorities and women while being a member of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. It also addresses the racism, that he experienced which contributed to his lack of advancement in the organization.
